Botox is a medication, and its dosage is determined by a Medical Provider. Botox dosage is measured in units. This brings us to the question: what is the difference in paying for your Botox ‘by the unit’ and paying ‘by the area.’
Some practices charge a set ‘by area’ price, but at Trifecta Med Spa we charge for Botox by the Unit. When we charge by the unit, you can be sure you are only paying for the amount you need. The total price will vary with the number of units injected and with more units you receive, the more you pay. The less units you receive, the less you pay.
When you pay per area the price is set, regardless of the number of units of Botox injected into the area. You do need to know what is considered an “area.” The glabella - the area between the brows is one area, the forehead- the area where the lines appear when raising one’s eyebrows up is another area, and crow’s feet- corners of your eyes (the crinkle when you smile) are another. Sides of the nose might be another area at some practices. The downside to that is while you pay one price per area, and don’t need as much Botox as another person, you’re paying the same, but getting less. That is just not fair! Usually practices that charge you by the area will not explain the dosage you received for this very reason. It’s like paying for an all-you-can-eat meal when you are not hungry. You’re paying the same as the person next to you eating 3 full plates. Basically you are paying the cost for that person’s food! It’s the same concept when you are paying for your Botox by the area.
Results also matter. Not every person is looking for the same result. The results after a Botox procedure can range from light/conservative to heavily frozen depending on the client’s desire. Some want a refreshed look, while others may want all their facial expressions erased. There are no Gold Standard and plenty of room in between the two extreme options. But it will require many more units of Botox to get the frozen look as opposed to a more conservative treatment.
We are proud of providing bespoke treatments to our clients at Trifecta Med Spa. Charging by the unit is part of that custom experience. We always offer complimentary consultations with an in-depth explanation of how Botox works and dialogue about your desired results. We will educate you on exactly recommended dosage that is appropriate for you. Usually here will be enough time to treat you on the very same day of your consultation, but if you prefer just to have the consultation and book the procedure another time that is totally up to you.
